ETL: RegionNameFromIP

Look up and return the region, state, or province name for an IPv4 address. Use REGIONNAMEFROMIP for geographic segmentation in ETL pipelines.

Description

Extracts the region, state (e.g. USA, Germany) or province (Canada) from a given IPv4 string (dot-decimal notation).

Syntax

RegionNameFromIP(ipaddress)

Examples

RegionNameFromIP('128.193.8.81') returns ‘Oregon’.

The function uses GeoLite2 data created by MaxMind, available from http://www.maxmind.com
